New Website Features –
You are viewing the latest revision of the WKA web site. This revision fixes problems in the site calendar software that resulted in unexpected errors when adding or changing event information and corrects out of date links on some of the other pages. This revision also adds this ‘Announcements’ section to the home page.
We will use Announcements to remind you about upcoming events and to share news of late- breaking kiting activities around our membership area.
Tulip Town Kite Fly –
Tulip Town, near Mount Vernon, has provided a very nice flying field for our use during their April Tulip Festival. This area will be open every day during April. Show the Tulip Town staff your WKA or AKA membership card for access. (We’ve been told that showing up with a carload or truckload of kites will get you in.) For more information, call Mark Williams at 425-327-2346.
Remaining Indoor Flying Dates –
April 18th was the last indoor flying session at the Calvin Presbyterian Church Gym in Shoreline, WA.
Indoor flying will continue on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 6:00 - 7:30 pm through May at the Crossroads Community Center: 16000 NE 10th Street, Bellevue, WA. For more information, contact Ron Suyematsu at email@example.com
Two Fun Flys at end of April –
Two interesting fun flies will take place at the end of April (April 29-30): Kites ‘N Hugs at Ocean Shores and Flyers’ Day at Long Beach. Both of these Flies have reputations as enjoyable, flier oriented events. Because of scheduling issues for other dates, the two events decided to share the April 29th weekend. The organizers look to resolve this conflict for next year. So, if you’re looking for a nice weekend of flying with fun people, pick your event. We’ll see your there!
New Flying Group –
A new kite flying group has been formed in the Everett, Snohomish and N. King county area. One of this group’s goals is to save Everett’s Boxcar Park as a location for kite flying. (It’s slated for removal as part of a major waterfront development.) To quote the group’s contact, Andrew Cimburek:
“We are a growing group of kite fliers in Everett, WA. We like to fly at Boxcar Park on the Everett Marina. New to the area or new to kiting? JOIN US! (See Facebook at 'Everett Kitefliers Club'.)”
Pictures! We need Pictures! –
Most everybody has noticed that the photographs on the home page and Photos page are dated. We need new and fresh photos from recent events. We’d especially love to see some pics from Fort Worden (Warm Springs), Kingston, or Entiat. If you have interesting or humorous photos to share, please send them in to Casey (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Butch (email@example.com).
